Alhaji Muhammadu Gambu has died at the ripe age of 80.
The popular Hausa singer known for his unusual songs for Nightcrawlers (Barayi), reportedly died yesterday, August 19, 2016, at the Maiyama General Hospital in Kebbi State.
Alhaji Gambu is survived by four wives, 16 children and many grandchildren.
The singer's songs are known to have travelled all over West Africa and the Middle Eats, becoming famous for the ones dedicated to notable and sometimes fictional thieves who openly operated mysteriously within and around Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States in the late seventies and eighties.
We love him, and may his gentle soul rest in peace.
